Fresh Strawberry Cake

                                                        1 cup sugar
                                                        2 tbs. butter
                                                        2 eggs, beaten
                                                        1 tsp. vanilla
                                                        3 cups sifted cake flour

3 tsp baking powder
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 cups milk

In large bowl cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to egg mixture. Blend in Milk. Add strawberries and lemon juice. Pour batter into two 8-inch greased layer cake pans and bake in 350 deg. F. oven for 30 - 35 minutes. Frost with Strawberry Icing. (see Icing recipe)
