1 1/2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers
1 cup whipping cream
Combine crumbs, 2 tbs, sugar and melted butter. Press into 8 inch square baking dish. In large mixing bowl, beat egg whites till soft peaks form, gradually add the 1/2 cup sugar, beating till stiff peaks form. Spread meringue over the crumbs. Bake at 350 deg. for 15-17 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle strawberries with the 6 tbs. sugar. Let stand 15 minutes then drain off juice. Whip cream, spread over meringue and top with drained strawberries. Chill. Serves 8-9.
